Any light surface rust can usually be cleaned with a 3M-style abrasive pad and soapy water or with fine, high-grit sandpaper.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eRusty Hoops\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eRusty hoops have more visible surface rust, typically from barrels that spent more time in the rickhouse. They are still solid, usable hoops and are not intended to be heavily deteriorated or junk-grade rings. Minor bends, nicks, edge wear, scratches, and other used-barrel character are normal.
